What About Carbs? Should I?

The first thing we think when trying to eat healthy is exclude carbs from our routine. Well, carbs are important for our body since it gives us energy. Now, should I include any type of carbs to my diet, or should I just eliminate it completely? Again, this is a common question and I used to skip carbs from my healthy eating because I did not know that there was a differentiation between good and bad carbs. I used to think carbs were: Rice, bread, and pasta.

I love bread! But, I know there are wheat and multigrain breads that have a high amount of fiber, which contributes to your digest system. However, it is important to eat small portions as well. "The Secret is Portions," Yes, it is not a secret anymore!


Don't get me wrong! I also eat white bread with butter and a hot coffee, I think is the perfect combination. But, I just said: ONCE IN A WHILE!


Now, let's talk about the good carbs. One of my favorite good carbs (referring to vegetables), yes! vegetables! Probably, many of you did not know that some vegetables are carbs. For example, Peas, Corn, Carrots, Sweet potatoes, Potatoes, and Beets contain high carbs. One of my favorites are sweet potatoes and green peas. However, I also enjoy eating low-carb vegetables like broccoli, cucumbers, spinach, celery, and all colors bell peppers. Indeed, my favorite breakfast is egg-whites with spinach and cheese, especially munster or provolone cheese.

Also, keep in mind that fruits have carbs as well. For example, bananas, berries, oranges, avocado, mangoes, and all the fruits in general contain carbs. But, as I said, it is better if you eat everything in portions. Usually, experts suggest to eat three fruits per day since they have vitamins and antioxidants that are good for the body. Therefore, don't be afraid eat any type of vegetables or fruits but in small portions. Now you know that carbs are not bad and it is important to eat in small portions, so don't be afraid to include them in your healthy eating habits.
